April 21, 2005 at 7:05 pmThe Media 100 HD supports both standard SD and HD video editing. It is an excellent SD editor. In SD operation I can play up to 8 uncompressed video streams (layers). The software version supports all the features of the hardware version with the exception of I/O.
With the software build you can open all Media 100 i and Media 100 HD projects and perform all your editing functions. After editing the program you can export the program with the Media 100 i CODEC. This exported file can then be played back in 8.2 on the P6000 program.
The software version will never be able to directly support the P6000 hardware because of CPU performance limitations and the need to compress all video data prior to playing the video stream out of the P6000.

April 21, 2005 at 10:38 pmI just installed 100sw and am curious if there is a way to use an external monitor. Since it can’t use the P6000 board, maybe through a firewire port?

April 21, 2005 at 10:43 pmRithg now with the beta version of the software you cannot use FireWire I/O. But on the Media 100 sw page it says: “Although it currently does not capture or output to tape without the HDX video I/O board, all the other functionality of the Media 100 HD is there and ready to use. As we continue to develop the Media 100 sw, it will support Firewire capture and output from a range of DV and HDV decks”
So FireWire support is planned and hopefully will arrive soon.
