The iPod commercial has been discussed many times …

It’s very hard to tell exactly what you mean by “warping strangely” … can you post a screenshot? It would be ideal to include a view of the timeline rather than just the comp viewer so we could see what might be causing the warping.

Yep, as usual, I’d go with Dave L.’s advice.
Red Giant is one of the most thorough and reliable AE plugin developers so they have plenty of info available on that subject:
https://www.redgiantsoftware.com/featured-news/cs5-faq/Taken from an email from Red Giant back in June of this year:
“You can go ahead and purchase the CS5 Suite upgrade for the Trapcode Suite. Knoll Light Factory, Datamator, Text Anarchy, Image Lounge, Composite Wizard are not yet updated for CS5. We are anticipating these updates to be available by the end of July.”
I haven’t purchased my upgrades yet since I’ll be buying new hardware first, but I suspect they’re all available by now.

I agree with Ted totally … I’d only add that I would also make the “Graphics Media Productions” scale in from closer to the camera right before the flare goes across it in order to draw the viewer’s eye to what seems the most important element – the company name. Perhaps even make that line a little bigger. All in all, nice work.

I happened to do exactly that not too long ago, but the biggest time-savers for me were a piece of grey gaf tape cut out over the logo and adjusting the shot angle to control the visibility (shadows, etc.). Then, all I had to do in post was copy another part of the screen over the already significantly reduced logo using a feathered mask and blend mode to eliminate the remaining traces (basically, the first method you already mentioned above).
If you don’t have the option of re-shooting, roto might be the only other option … especially if the actor’s hand crosses the plane of the logo.

Jack,
It seems that your confusion with my and John’s previous replies is lack of understand interlacing … when you say you want the interlace lines “gone”, what you really mean is that you don’t want to see them, which does not mean that they’re not there (when you watch TV, you’re watching interlaced video). As John said, interlacing is “needed if your final delivery format is for TV”. And, you said you want 1080, which the full correct name for is 1080i (the “i” stands for interlaced). So, all you should need to do is edit your video, export, put it on a DVD, play that on a TV and you won’t see the interlacing lines that are actually still there. If it doesn’t work out that way, the field order of the video somehow got screwed up and needs to be correctly interpreted to either “upper fields first” or “lower fields first” … I can’t know which because I don’t know which your camera generates (it’s not a matter of one is right and the other wrong).
I hope this helps.

I figured you might be looking for a more literal way of “instancing’, but unless something like that has been implemented in CS5 and I haven’t heard about it, AE doesn’t have that capability. Perhaps it would be a good feature request for Adobe … might be a little difficult to manage in the typical AE workflow, but worth a shot.

One of the best things about AE is there’s a bunch of ways to do most things so you can choose the approach that’s best for different situations … there’s Walter’s way (just wanted to say “Walter’s way”), as well as a few other options…

I agree with KJ, but if you can’t resize the image in PS for some reason, you can apply AE’s alpha blur after the corner pin (might need to apply a small edge choke first).

Wiring Massive Building for Video/Audio Sends! You might consider hiring a video systems integration company or, at the very least, an engineer since there are a lot of “gotchas” when you get beyond around routing signals within just an edit suite or to an adjacent room … just a thought.
