  • Thought it migh thelp to have one more opinion…as someone already said differently, your client probabaly doesn’t like the bounce because they can’t actually see the photos, but I’d bet they’d like it if it just slowed down or maybe even paused briefly on the best photos. Most clients don’t (or can’t) specify what they don’t like about an effect…just that they either like it or not. I often shown clients the same exact effect with some minor tweaking and they love something they previously hated.
I also concur about always having to drop some photos in those types of projects…the only other option is to accept the fact that you’ll constantly lose (and hopefully regain) your audiences attention throuhout the piece.

Thanks for sharing, Dean. I’ve always found backtracking the work of people who are more proficient with AE than I the best way to improve my AE skills, as well as great inspiration for new ideas to experiment with.

I’ll second that…and third. I also include copies of my projects in most of my rendered movies, which allows me to import the entire project from within rendered .mov files. I find this function especially useful because I do a lot of pre-rendering so I always have copies of my projects at every stage within each pre-render. I don’t have AE open right now and mine opens slowly with so many plugins, but I think the setting is at the top of the Output Module window and is called “post-render options”. Try it…you’ll like it.

Thanks…I just never pursued a solution since it has never been a show-stopping problem for me, but I guess I might as well do it the right way.

I’m sure someone else can give you a better answer as to why that happens and how to stop it, but I thought it might be helpful for you to hear that I often get the “clipping” warning when printing and typically ignore it since the prints always come out just as I wanted them despite the warning.

This tutorial is about making torn paper, but should give you some ideas that you can adapt to get the look you want for your flag: https://www.myjanee.com/tuts/torn/torn.htm
    A starting point at least.

Of course it depends on your particular needs, but I like the AutoFX plugins very much…especially DreamSuite 1 & 2 and Photo/Graphic Edges. The only complaint I have is that they’re somewhat slow (probably due to the excessive interface), although I am one version back from the most current so they might’ve improved the speed/interface. I especailly like that you can use any of the AutoFX software both as stand-alone applications and as plugins within Photoshop.
