Ok, then you output to Flash to get all the controls at the bottom?

Well, after all the laughter has died down – the FAQ does have Camtasia as a screen capture program, but it does not provide the slick look of Andrew Kramer’s tutorials or Aharon Rabinowitz’s. Is this done with Camtasia and then exported through flash?

Nevermind, found it. I had to change the properties panel of the media to Straight Alpha channel.

Ok, tried and it didn’t work. There is no transparency or alpha channel. I went into the VIDEO tab, and alpha channel is selected. Do I need to make them image sequences? The avi uncompressed did not work for me…
Within Vegas, it works fine. If I have a layer below it, the layer shows through the chroma-key, but when I render out the layer by itself (with nothing underneath, uncompressed) it is just black in the background. I brought the uncompressed avi back into vegas and when I put something below it, it does not show through…weird.The reason I am keeping it in Vegas is because I am using the Median FX filter and they don’t have that in AE that I remember.

Thanks, but I ended up making a 3D layer and moving the shadow layer against the background which was farther out on the Z axis so the Drop shadow wouldn’t really work. I just add Gaussian blur to the layer and it look ok. Thanks again.

If I am correct, you need to cut out the pictures in photoshop (inc. alpha channel), bring them into AE, make them into 3D layers, add a camera and stack the layers into foreground, middle ground and background. If you set the cameras DOF, you can get bokeh and all the things that look like film…

I think in Building a 3D World, they do something similar to what you want, they might have an answer in that AE tutorial.
