  • What is the best way to feather a shadow?

I have a duplicate layer of a greenscreened actor to use as my shadow. I scaled it slightly larger, translated it over slight, turned the levels on the black down to zero and turned the opacity down to about 50%. How can I feather the edges now so it isn’t so sharp for the shadow?

I’d just take your shadow layer (the duplicate) and add Drop Shadow or Radial Shadow, set to Shadow Only, then feather it with Softness. I’d drop all the Opacity and Levels off of it, you can control opacity and color within the two plugins.

Thanks, but I ended up making a 3D layer and moving the shadow layer against the background which was farther out on the Z axis so the Drop shadow wouldn’t really work. I just add Gaussian blur to the layer and it look ok. Thanks again.
