Hi,
Sorry, I have been following this thread but haven’t had a chance to respond. We’ve been buttoning up Version 12 and a small update to Version 11.6.3. Look for those in the next few days.
You can send requests to customerservice@media100.com or askthepm@media100.com. The “ask” address is best for feature requests.
As for XDCam in general. It’s on our list to look at in the future. We had some good meetings with Sony at NAB and IBC and that will help us with development if we decide to go forward with supporting XDCam.
These lists are fine and we encourage them as it provides us with direction on what we need to do in the next release. For now, let’s support Media 100 by considering an upgrade to Version 12! You’ve been asking for progressive support and it’s here!

There are no limitations that we know of with the system in the way you are presenting it to the list. But 8.2.3 is way long in the tooth (it’s been 5 years now– WOW!), and when the product was released there was very few, if any, storage systems that reached the capacities you are working in. Because of this we did not test a system similar to your system so I’m not sure how we could have given a heads up. Beside that your system was working and is now working again, so it seems like things are OK and something was corrupted. That happens with any program. Best practice for any system (Media 100, Avid, FCP, whatever) is to keep your document files within reasonable sizes, and keep your media folders to reasonable sizes. Remember to back up your documents regularly.

Couple of things. When did you purchase Producer? If you have purchased in the last 30 days you receive free support. If you are outside the free support period then we have other support options available.
You state you are dropping frames, but then state the issue is you are out of sync. Which is it? Media 100 doesn’t drop frames without warning, if we do you will see a cannot play because… error. If your audio and video are out of sync while playing back, that is another issue and we will have to dig further. Right now there is no active case opened with a customer that has a audio/video playback problem.

Go directly to the applications/media100 folder. Launch Media 100 directly from that folder and not the dock. Then try to edit a comp. If this happens you are launching the incorrect version either from an alias or the dock.

We do not have one here yet to test, so it is not “officially” approved. But customers have been using it without an issue since we released 11.6.2.

We agree. HDV is MPEG and that is the problem for us right now. HDMI transcodes the MPEG stream before it gets to Media 100, so it’s a bit easier to implement. We’re looking at all interfaces and connections on all devices and trying to pick what’s the quickest to market and works best for our customers. The transition to Intel set our engineering efforts back 9 months and we want (and have) to catch up on features.

Or… maybe he could purchase something :), your money is still good around here D. We’re looking to start growing Media 100 again, this time the Boris way and we need more people to come back. We’re not saying get rid of FCP. That won’t happen (and why would you?), but we have still plenty to offer in this space. Media 100 is more affordable than ever and it can easily co-exist with FCP using the same AJA cards on the same computer. No more snakes, dog food or any of that crazy junk, just an easy way to get your work done and make money.
