How can I convert Media 100 codec files to either Quicktime or Apple’s new ProRes 422?

Umm, Media100 media files ARE QuickTime. Can you tell us what you’re trying to do with the files?

I want to take Media 100 video files I digitized, that I cannot re-digitize, and edit the video within FCP 6.
It’s my understanding that the Media 100 codec is not directly playable as a Quicktime file. I’ve not been able to play these files as if they are Quicktime files.

Depending on what rev your M100 software is, the Media100 codecs since R8 (or maybe R10?) have been standalone software that should work with any QuickTime app. If that doesn’t work for you, you can export clips into any QuickTime codec with “Export from edit suite.” If that’s too painful, consider buying the latest rev of Producer. The 14 day trial version is free.

These files are from version 6 of Media 100.
I’ll try Producer sw and see if it can export as a Quicktime.
    Thanks for the help.

Install the media 100 transcoder into your Quicktime pro library. Create a reference file in Media 100. Open the Media 100 reference file in quicktime pro and export. Not sure if this works with Pro Res but it works great for all SD quicktime!!!

Dude, version 6 of Media 100! Wow, we need to get people upgraded, version 6 is from 8 years ago. Sounds like you could use the Producer upgrade to me and make this easier for you. Think about it.

Where does one find this mysteriously elusive trancoder these days?

I’ve got a bunch of M100 files form 2001 and before that I should like to bring into FCP but my old transcoder software only works in OS9.

Hi, I think I answered this in the other thread. The OSX transcoder, the OS9 transcoder, and the new OSX Codecs can all be downloaded from the Media100 website.

    OS9 Transcoder:
    https://www.support.media100.com/KBSearch/kbDocument.aspx?id=181

    OSX Transcoder:
    https://www.support.media100.com/KBSearch/kbDocument.aspx?id=193

New OSX Codecs (which replace the transcoder):
    https://www.support.media100.com/KBSearch/kbDocument.aspx?id=379

I believe all of these are PowerPC only.
For Intel, you’d either want to run the PPC ones under rosetta, or else use the latest Media100 software trials.
