  • I tried that script in the past for a different project, but didn’t work. I can’t remember exactly what was wrong with it, but I remember I had some issues and ended up discarding it.

I’ll try it again for this, if it works properly it will be a huge time saver.

Do you know why collapsing transformations does not work with Form?

    Thanks for your help,
    D.

  • Yep, that was it.

Thanks a lot, it was driving me crazy. Never saw that switch before.

And here I am thinking I had finally mastered expressions, back to square one for me.

I can’t remember a specific case where I linked two properties in different comps with expressions but if it worked then most likely there was no keyframes in neither comp.

I’ll add this new one to my list of expressions that I quite not understand but use often.

Thanks a lot for your help,
    David.

    Whoa!! It worked, thanks!!!

But I can’t understand why, as far as I know (which admitted;y is very little) the other way should work fine and I even tried it in different comps and machines and everything was ok.

Do you mind elaborate about this time difference problem? I never ran into it before.

    Thanks again.
    David.

So here we are two years later and I don’t know how many versions after and this issue is still happening.
I’m experiencing it right now on CC 2014 (along with a ton of other problems).

Do you have an ETA on when this will be fixed?

  • I tried that several times, but didn’t work.
Eventually I found a post in an Adobe forum with a somewhat similar issue, it turns out that if the precomp is servicing more than one comp Ae gets confused. I deleted it from another composition where it was also appearing and the problem went away.

    Best,
    D.

  • Hi Michael,

    Answering your questions:

No, I’m not saving incrementally but I still have the previous version in the same project, I duplicated the comp. I haven’t had the chance to re render that version, the new one just finished today at 5 am and I had to compress it before I sent it. I’ll try the old one again as soon as I get to the office.

I’m using 2014.2 on Yosemite 10.10.1 (Yosemite is a giant turd, but that’s another discussion).

The decently-timed render happened two days ago, on Wednesday, the unreasonable one started yesterday and finished this morning, it was less than 24 hours in between each.

The logo is an layered animated Illustrator file, I’ve used it extensively in the past in other projects and it never misbehaved (assuming it was the logo what caused the issue).

Nope, I didn’t turn on Ray-traced render, all my comps are on classic 3D.

Also, I turned off MP, and the render went down from 11 hours to 8, still excessive, but at least not as much. Puzzling.

Later today, I’m going to try some renders turning off layers one by one, to find the culprit, I’ll let you know what happens.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, if you can think of anything else please let me know.

    Best,
    David.

    Thanks Brian,

Unfortunately none of it worked. I tried several combinations and also some other settings besides the one you mentioned. The sides are still disconnecting for some reason.

It’s very weird because I tried other objects and the oil tank does the same, it will throw away even the part directly attached to the fixed points.

I wonder if this is a bug or the way is intended to work on this objects.

    Best,
    David.

  • Thanks a lot guys, that was it.

    Best,
    David.
