My guess would be that this MTS files just suck. I’m getting them from a Canon camcorder and I also tried the same preset in Premiere when I imported them. Ultimately the only thing that has ended up working for me to avoid interlacings, choppiness, wavy lines (I had them too) was to convert the video twice to the formats mentioned on my post, and even after that the footage is slow to play and it seems to consume a lot of PPro’s resources. It is not a solution that I’m entirely satisfied with but at least it allows me to deliver the videos to my client on time.

Unlike you I’m on a mac.

If you ever come up with a better, less time consuming solution better quality solution, please let me know. I really need it.

Do you know if the shortcuts from CS3 remained the same for CS4? I know that they changed in After Effects and Photoshop, but I’m not certain on Premiere.

The problem is that is not always the same four or five frames the ones that are skipping, plus is the entire frame the one that it’s jumping so tracking the points manually won’t help either because regardless when I export to .mov or any image sequence the jerkiness is still there, the tracking info is correct but the video will have the bizarre jumps anyway.

What I did is that I followed your advice (at least the second part of it ;-)) and I converted it first with 4media video converter to HD .mov, that took away the jerkiness but darkened the image considerably; since I had no trouble with the original .mts file when I wasn’t tracking it, I used this new darker hd .mov file generated by Video Converter to track the image and then rendered the title plate with an alpha channel and placed it over the original .mts file untracked, that worked for the moment and helped me to meet my deadline.

Any ideas on how to prevent the color shifting when converting the mts file? I already tried a bunch of software and this one seems to be the one that preserves the most quality from the original image.

i have the same issue with all of the programs except illustrator, the guys at adobe told me to change the ownership of my applications and preferences folders and apply the changes to the enclosed folder but both had correct ownership already, regardless i did it, the problem went away for a few days and came back. lately it is every single time that they crash.

Maybe this question doesn’t belong to this thread, but I’m in a bit of a hurry…

I’m trying to render a sequence in Premiere Pro CS4, as I have done so many times in the past, also in CS4. But when I hit enter, I only get the rendering window and nothing else happens, it progress up to .01% and if I tried to cancel I always have to end up force quitting the program. I know that nothing is happening because the activity on my processors does not increase.

I have a suspicion regarding some subtitles that I’m using, since the last time this happened to me I could isolate the issue to some bars and tone elements that I created within Premiere, it seems that it has issues when stuff created within the program.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, I’m under a deadline here.

Does anyone know if the Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 Apple Pro G5 Keyset from logickeyboard (https://www.logickeyboard.com/shop/adobe-premiere-pro-1609p.html) will work with CS4? I just wouldn’t want to spend my money only to find out that the shortcuts are dramatically different from one version to the next one. I know that I can customize the shortcuts but the less the better.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

it’s not really built in but bundled as a stand alone application with AE CS4, it’s called Mocha AE.
It’s pretty cool as you no longer need tracking points because Mocha tracks planes instead of points. I’ve never used Bojou but Mocha seems quite powerful to me.

Your video is no longer available in youtube either but if you’re having issues with tracking points then definitely you should give Mocha a try.

add an expression to the source text that is linked to a null object’s position values, if you want the three values (x,y,z) values to be displayed you’ll have to create three null objects with the same coordinates and link three different text objects.

i had the same problem, tried layers, sublayers, the make pdf compatible option file checked and unchecked, AICB, PDF, preserving paths and preserving appearance options and nothing worked.

then i read that you need to match your versions, illustrator cs3 with AE cs3, cs2 with 7 and so on. so i saved my .ai file as cs2 and reimported it into AE, it loaded flawlessly (well, it took a little longer, but it’s 48 layers with #d effects on ’em!!).

with their dirty trick adobe just gave me a new excuse to upgrade my AE to cs3!!

answering just to your last question (and assuming you didn’t write photoshop by mistake having AE in mind) Can I import Illustrator into photoshop and keep the layers?:

yes you can, you need to export you illustrator file as a .psd document, the on the options you’ll be prompted with click on write layers and click the maximum editability box too. now you can open you file in photoshop which each layer that you generated in illustrator as a separate layer in photoshop.
