You could try the newest trick, too. Just export as H.264 and change the extension on the file to .flv. Flash Player 9 and up will play the files. We love this. But our IT geeks freak out because the video is so clean, they think we’re using too much bandwidth.

… a cruel joke. It would be ironic if it weren’t sadistic.
May the thrice-cursed camel spawn who invented it pay the price in their next lives.bogiesan

this is not a valid question. An After Effects project’s frame size and frame rate and color space settings and workflow routines are established and controlled by the end product. One takes shortcuts wherever possible without compromising the end result and one tries to avoid over-resolving the target result.

The whole user tips and tool tips thing is a PITA. They should be transparent AND they should be smart enough not to cover important interface features. Your observation could be placed in the Apple feedback folder at apple.com’s disscussions for Motion.

Have you ever successfully used Motion Tracking before?
the most common failure is in realizing the tracking data must be applied to another layer. If the whale’s layer ends up moving around quite a bit, you will see the edges of the frame.bogiesan

I don’t mean to sidestep the question but if you put some of those terms into google, you will eventually find a site that has a matrix of Apple and Quicktime codecs and for what they’re used.
Generally, it doesn’t do any good to export at a higher resolution or greater bit depth than the original items in the project or more than your end user’s needs.

[Jason Diebler] “Was just curious if others have experienced the same issue. “
Oh.
I have Knoll but I’ve never tried it at that depth.bogiesan

[Kevin Camp] “open quicktime, choose preferences and make sure that the option for ‘use high-quality video setting’ is checked.
“Doh!
Please let us know if you get this figured out. The whole WMV topic comes up way too often around here and there are so many different ways to approach the various issues. Your experience and progress will help with future inquiries.

If you are going to be making money with this setup, you want a card specifically for Motion, the 4870 or 4780, whatever they’re calling it now.
You want CS4.
You want to replace the chair at your editing desk.bogiesan

The Apple Genius is an idiot or at least a fancifully creative problem solver.
The Macintosh OS does not performa any defragmentation in the background. MacOS10 does a bunch of file management operations all by itself but only if it is left on for months at a time. Tools like Mac Janitor will run the file maintenance applications on command. These are largely benign and invisible cache and tracking files. Tens of thousands of them are created every day.
Your Mac OS will not look at your file structure and defragment media files. Your Mac will not optimize your file structure which is different from defragging in that optimization places the most-accessed files at the fastest parts of the drives.
The easiest and safest way to defragment a drive is to clone it, erase it, and then clone it back.
There are tremendous risks in running any defragmentation utility without making a clone FIRST.https://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20070301091515843
