APC, generally, but your equipment needs outstrip the conventionally available consumer and mid-pro boxes. You need a major UPS appliance or several smaller units to handle that load safely so be prepared for the sticker shock. What you do NOT want to happen is to have your monitor and computer stay up as your RAID spins down.

You can use an EDL but that’s about it.
It is far easier and cheaper (just do the math on how long it will take you to convert and transconvert your EDLs a few times) to simply buy your client an update if he’s too stupi– erm, silly or cheap to buy it himself.
You can probably find a way to get in the invoice but the rationalization a simple bottom line calculation. Plus he’ll get all that cool new stuff with 4.5.

Umm, why don’t you all celebrate your collaboration and upgrade to FCP5 while you’re at it?

The reinstallation of FCP5 seems like a dumb way to fix this since the whole application might be busted if it can’t handle alphas. I’d look lots of other places first like QT7.

Over on apple.com, a pi$$ed off FCP5 user got no alpha satisfaction after reinstalling (dunno if he really knew how to do that properly) so he is reverting to FCP4. Dunno if he knows how that will work with Tiger.

Folks have had success by trashing the receipts for Quicktime. This forces a fresh install via Software Update. Umm, can’t quite find the articles. Wait. Ah, here it is:
