I have a dsr – 45 hooked and it shows up under my apple profiler, but when I open FCP it tells me it can’t locate my apple firewire ntsc. I press check again and get same window. I have tried turning the deck on and off but nothing. I hit continue then call up my capture window. It says vtr ok and I have full controls. I can set in’s and out’s and log clips. I try to capture and the capture window comes up, it cues up the tape then either FCP crashes or it creates an unkown file and won’t capture.

I’ve changed my easy setup and still nothing. I tried trashing preferences, repairing permissions and reinstalling FCP and nothing has seemed to work so far.

I have yet to try capturing from my kona card, but I want to be able to use the dv stop start dectect to log my tapes. I’ve done this a bunch of times before, but this was my first attempt since I installed version 5. Before I installed the FCP Studio I did a clean install to tiger then I installed my programs. I’m not sure what else to try.

dual 2, 4 gigs ram, kona 2, xraid

    Thanks for any help

Folks have had success by trashing the receipts for Quicktime. This forces a fresh install via Software Update. Umm, can’t quite find the articles. Wait. Ah, here it is:

Please post back and tell us if it helps or not.

I will try that and let you know how it works. The thing is it works fine with imovie, but i’m not going to capture in that than import to fcp. I’ll let you know if this quicktime thing works.

Yep that did the trick. I’m running fine now.

Jeremy, thank you for closing the thread with a positive conclusion. Hardly anyone comes back to tell us what happened.
