Doesn’t matter much, you can’t see that kind of different from a typical operating distance. But check the specs at apple.com for their 20, 23 and 30 inchers : 14ms.

The Time Remap tool is your only choice within FCP. There are no tips and tricks other than to avoid using it and go to another application like After Effects. FCP’s slow motion, especially using DV material, totally blows. We’ve been screaming about it for years, it seems no one cares.

Export a self-contained movie from FCP. Do not use reference movies and do not use export to compressor.
Open Compressor as a separate application, not from within FCP, and import your self-contained movie.
Compressor works much faster on its own than from within FCP. A self-contained movie cannot lose track of its reference links in nests or speed-altered clips. You can also apply several different settings to the same file, use Batch Monitor top send you email when it’s done or move the clips to a server.bogiesan

> But nothing I do will close the program so I have to unplug the computer to shut it down. < You'd have to tell us what you've actually tried. There are several ways to force quit an app but if you can't get them to work, this will help suggest some other debugging operations. Application switcher? Dock? Apple menu? control-option-esc (or is it option-commnad-esc?) Activity Monitor open while you're trying to work? bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Subtitles or captions?
Huge difference, often lost on clients. These might help a bit:https://www.ccaption.com/nccwork.shtml

While it’s true FCP is not a live environment, you don’t REALLY need a switcher/effects unit for most clients to grasp what’s going on. You can do quick captures and QuickView tests out to your normal video monitor.
If it’s not good enough for your clients to grasp the concept for a simple cityscape, you may have truly dull clients.

How the alpha is interpreted is set on the item properties. You can right-click or control-click on the alpha to get a popup menu. However, you may have to go back to the original application if the alpha was improperly created. FCP cannot correct bad files.
see the manual for alpha types. It’s all there.

< We have translation problem, maybe? That's not a computer mainframe at all. That is a display of computer-generated graphics representing some kind of scanning of organic matter or an armada of weird space ships. So what are you trying to do? Create computer output or create the computer? https://www-03.ibm.com/systems/z/

I think my copy of FEC cost about $22,000, including the two Ice cards and the money those rat bastards at M100 demanded for the Ice and non-Ice updates. (Lesson: Beware proprietary effects technologies.)
I received tremendous satisfaction from dumping our M100 and finding FEC had more or less turned up as Cycore FX in After Effects. I do not see where the version Boris is hawking improves on anything in the AE7 set but the new 16 bit plugs from Cycore look awesome. I just don’t need that kind of color fidelity nor do I really have the processing power. .
Strictly personal with me: I’d never give anyone another freakin’ dime for anything called FEC. But I’m overly emotional about these things.
