  • Nice try but you’re still not making any sense.
The machine has nothing to do with any file interchange situation. All that matters is the version of FCP.

Generally speaking, LiteOn stuff gets the job done for dirt cheap. I have a buddy with several LiteOn toys, I’ve asked him to respond, might take a day.

  • > I have an intel Imac running os 10.4.6 I have fcstudio ver 5.1 I also have fcstudio for my powermac and G5 which is ver 5.0x anyway created a project on the powermac version went to open it on the intel version and was told no< The post is clear as mud, true, but I read it as the 5.1 is on Intel and v5.0 is on the G5. Projects created on the G5 in 5.0 are not opening on the Intel in 5.1 which is clearly a problem but it's not a backward compatible issue. But that's just how I read it. You read it differently. Probably neither of us is correct. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

  • “no” and what else?
    Relevant.

Are your two installs using the same license?

We do not have the Intel hardware but our 5.1 installs on our G5s open our older projects instatnly.

When AE first flirted into the 3D world, Brian Maffit, and others of his skill level, worked hard to create curved planes using dozens of small layers. They parented the layers to paths that could be bent. I never understood the process well enough to copy it.

Total Training might have some tutorials on the topic still available, dunno.

    Thanks, Steve.
I was going to say something similar, pointing to one history of animation book or another. Multiplane animators at Disney (see the old “Illusion of Life” book) did not necessarily move the different planes unless they were going for a particular dolly or boom effect. The impact of the multiplane camera rig was its ability to control depth of field and present an unnerving illusion of depth to otherwise two dimensional artwork.

    > It does not explain why the background image is still becoming invisible. Can anyone explain why this is happening? And how I can resolve it?< Some effects do not honor the alpha from previously created effects. Your solution is to nest or prerender or, since your current method isn't working, try something else. That might be something like, oh, I dunno, nesting or prerendering. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Wow, that would be similar to my post. Hmm. Guess Gus will just have to keep posting the same question till he gets an answer he likes.

There are many effects in FCP that do not respect the alpha created by the previous effect. This may be one of them but without sitting over you shoulder it’s impossible to tell what you’re doing wrong .You might not be doing anything wrong. Nest or prerender. You will be glad you did.

Hard to tell but this tip will save you tons of work and wasted processing:
Establish your chromakeying and get it perfect and then render the entire movie out using the Animation codec. Reimport it.

Now all you have to do is adjust it, edit it, or add additional effects like your colorization or chroma reduction. But you never have to key it again.

  • Export a self-contained version of your project. Reimport it. Use the self-contained move as the source for your AVI.
