The other option is to use the start or end at edit in the transition dialog. This way you can use every frame you have. BUt you can dissolve what doesn’t exist.

IF you see the interlacing in FCP it might be because the viewer and canvas only display one field. Walter is correct BETA SP is an interlaced source.

Rob,
Color wont overwrite the old clip, it creates a new one so you have to drill down into the folder and use the reconnect media function to connect the clip OR you can import the newly rendered clip and place it on a layer above the old one.
THis is also a nice way to create effects between two looks.

The Viewer and canvas in FCP only disply one field. That is why you do not see the interlacing until the export phase and watch in QT which displays both fields.
Get a video card and an external monitor to see everything coming out of FCP on the fly.

If you are only seeing this on the viewer of compressor then go ahead and compress the file and watch the file in QT AFTER it is compressed. The internal monitoring is often only one field.

Yes,
Double check to see how the files open in Photoshop. You might be applying the stretch on export.

My guess is that the stretch is only happening in the viewer window. If you drag the file into the timeline it should fit in the correct aspect ratio for the sequence you have selected.
You can also select the clip in the timeline and right click to select REMOVE ATTRIBUTES and remove the ones the may have been selected automatically.

Try an audio mix down before re-encoding the file.
Make sure the level changes are in the audio mix down.

Why not start by using the eydropper for the whites on the white part of the frame.
