I put an ATI Radeon 9800 in my Quicksilver 2002 (AGP) and it fits the spec, plus runs Avid Xpress nicely. I’m not running FCS2 on that box, though, so don’t take it as a qualification.
As long as your card supports core image and quartz extreme you should be fine. -
There is a digitize option that will automatically edit the freshly captured clip into the current sequence.
So technically yes, starting this process will digitize and edit together a string of the full master clips so that when you’re done digitizing you’re stringout will be done also.
But I don’t think that’s what you had in mind. -
My first thought is to check whether you’re working in draft mode vs. full quality mode. It’s the little box at the lower left of the sequence window. If it’s a solid green rounded rectangle, try clicking it. This will let you cycle between solid yellow (low res), yellow/green (high res video, low res graphics) or solid green (highest quality – must render all).
The second thought is to check your media creation settings and make sure the effects are set to the same resolution as the video. If the video is 2:1 and effects are set to render at MPEG50 you may be forcing a render because the format has to be transcoded.Good Luck!

I love the Logic Keyboard company. It looks like they buy the Apple keyboards and swap out the keys, then resell. They’ve got some black and silver keyboards available for windozers.

Go to the project window, switch to the settings tab and have a look at your RENDER settings. When you do a render in-out it checks there and applies your preference to the effects. IIRC, you should set it to reflect the quality set in each effect, or some such terminology.
By the way, the way render in-out works seems to have changed in that it now will RE-Render every effect in the range, as opposed to only the unrendered ones. -

September 15, 2008 at 9:11 pm in reply to: Unwrap a DNxHD Quicktime and rewrap it as MXF?Check your import settings, and try ignoring the alpha (as opposed to use existing or invert). This may allow you to skip the selection hurdle and at least do a batch import overnight or when the system’s not otherwise in use…

What about hooking up a deck with HDMI out and connecting via firewire. The Sony HVR25mu or the JVC BR-HD50 come to mind. You’d turn video display output on when you need to, work faster with it off.

Avid owns Liquid, but the programs are very different. You might wanna try posting this question to the Avid Liquid cow forum:

This is soooooo old. The last developed version of the plug was in 2000. Avid has has a timecode effect built in since long ago. Unless you’ve got a super old version of Avid, look for the timecode effect under the Illusion FX category in your effects pallette.
This effect does require render before playback. Depending on your version of Avid, there was a project that developed a real-time version that looked a little rattier, but didn’t require rendering before playback. Let us know what U have…
