Tim, what exactly do you mean by bottleneck and
could you please support your statement with some evidence?
I use prores on windows all the time and find it to be super smooth and very robust. Maybe there is something wrong with your setup?

  • Hi,
Cs6 latest update is retina aware, and your operating system is not up to date, I would hedge a guess there is your conflict. You should really be running the latest os 10.8.2 for all that retina goodness to work.
    Hope that helps

    Hi.

Do the files play normally in win/osx? One thing I would try is to rename one wav file, then Load project with that file offline, then relink that offline file to the renamed one. Does it play now? If so you could try moving all wavs to another directory then load project with files offline, then Relink to files. You might have to change names for the wavs to force premiere to rebuild caches. Still quicker than resynching.

    Hope that helps

    Hi
Premiere doesn’t have an editing codec like final cut or avid. It works with most files natively. If you are given a choice it’s hard to decide and personal preference will play a large part. Nearly all production codecs work well. Personally I would choose apple prores for its wide acceptance throughout the industry. Avid dnxhd is good also and has the advantage of being read and write on windows whereas prores is read only. Xdcam is another good editing codec. The list goes on and on…..

    Hope that helps

    Hi.
In cs5.5 you can find this option in sequence settings and then playback button. There you can specify to play out to second monitor. In cs6 it’s not tied to sequence settings but rather in the global preferences.
    Hope that helps

    Hi,
Yes if you create optimised media in fcpx it will make a new folder in the event called optimised media. This will contain all your prores files which will play in vegas as long as you have QuickTime installed on the pc (free download from apple)

    Hope this helps.

I’m not at the machine now but from what I remember I think I had to enable faderport in the midi part of preferences. It appears as a midi input and output. You then have to enable external control also.

    Hope that helps

October 13, 2012 at 8:42 pm in reply to: Here’s what I want:

Vegas is a daw and nle which is fully capable on both counts. One of its ultimate strengths is combining the 2, for examlle using a daw approach to video tracks, ie video plugins like inserts in a daw and you also plug in effects on the master video out just like the audio.
It also lets you have one clip covering another on the same track without deleting what’s below.
It has a very powerful ripple mode that you can customise to your liking or turn off.
It exports aaf and also to premiere fcpx and after effects so you can use that option to get a decent edl or omf.
As far as I am aware it only has one source viewer but not sure about that. I really don’t understand why people keep giving it a miss. Every time I end up editing on something else and have to send to audition or try audio in fcpx I miss having everything all in one, and I have yet to experience anything close to vegas for the way it does multicam, I am specifically talking about being able to split the multicam track after my edit back into single camera tracks, this is the easiest way to color match cameras by using the aforementioned track fx. Oh and did I mention that there is no transcoding, and you can switch frame rate and size of your project at any time, oh and yeah performance and rendering is unmatched, even by mercury playback.

  • In preferences there is an option for playing audio while scrubbing, untick this. You can also assign a keyboard shortcut to it, very handy as it also affects your timeline.
Else do what you mentioned and modify audio channels to none. You can do this to several files at once, and you can also set it back to include audio at a later time.

    Hope that helps
