  • Premiere Pro CS6 – Serious Error – constantly crashing

Posted by Andy Field on November 3, 2012 at 4:41 am

Have Premiere Pro cs6 6.0.2 on Macbook Pro laptop retina 16gb ram system Lion 10.7.5 Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB

No matter what i do – ingest DVCPRO HD Mfx files – quicktime prores…any format – as soon as you double click the clip – it crashes and says Premiere Pro has encountered a serious error —

Anyone have a solution? The program is now unusable.

For months I was having problems with premier crashing that no one could help with. After extensive rams testing I had a bad stick of RAM.

Congrats on finding the culprit. Nice to hear it wasn’t PrP after all. 😀

    Hi,
Cs6 latest update is retina aware, and your operating system is not up to date, I would hedge a guess there is your conflict. You should really be running the latest os 10.8.2 for all that retina goodness to work.
    Hope that helps

Also, if you have any plugins — Red Giant, Noise Industries, etc. — have been known to generate problems within Premiere. You may need to uninstall them to see if they’re the culprit.

I’ve had similar issues with Premier Pro. Constant random crashes. NOT trusting that application at the moment.

FYI I’m running 10.8.2 / PrPro CS 6.0.2 on a MacPro (ie no retina).

[Charles Cunliffe] “Whose operating system is 10.8.2? Can you be just a tich more specific for a newby?”

Not sure I understand this question. 10.8.X is Apple’s most current operating system called Mountain Lion. The .X is whatever patch of the system one is running – 10.8.1, 10.8.2, etc.

    Hi,

10.8.2 is the latest Operating System from apple, Mountain Lion, seeing that you have the latest in hardware technology ie retina macbook pro, I would try to match it with the latest software also. Retina screen technology is very new technology and for it to function properly you will require latest software.

    hope that helps
