I have a similar setup and cannot record audio only into Final Cut using this card and driver(5.8). I have to switch “video” on in the capture window to get audio to pass through.

I don’t see mention of Graffiti 5 in your post. Would this script be helpful for that as well? Or is this script application specific?

    Thanks,

Do you know how long the upgrade pricing is in effect? I don’t want to purchase it until I know it’s going to work on my Mac Pro.
    Thanks,

  • Don,
I went with the BMD HD Extreme board. I come out of my Z1U component video, and the audio and machine control travel down the firewire cable. I capture using the BMD 8bit uncompressed codec. Works just fine with my Mac Pro and Final Cut 5.1.2.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see any mention of hours on the heads, loading, ect. Could be a deal, or a pile of repairs.

I’m not sure what’s different in your setup. I have all four HD bays with drives installed and I can still put my HD Extreme card in slot four. I was worried that because there is such a small gap between the drives and the card in slot four that heat might be an issue. I was told by BMD that this isn’t an issue. In the system profile it’s listed as pci-bridge, vendor ID 0x1033, Device ID 0x0125, Revision ID 0x0003.

I believe the Instructions recommend slot # 4.

BMD recommends slot #4 for the card. I have a similar configuration and it works fine. I went with Maxtor drives, but you take the same steps. It’s a great self-contained system.

Knock wood. Installed on my Mac Pro 2.66 w/BMD HD Extreme card. Reinstalled BMD drivers. Re-started Mac – Final Cut starts up fine – navigated to a project I just completed – it opened and plays fine. So far….so good.
