It sounds like your process to get to the batch session was not correct.
Or FCP is just doing something weird. Either is possible.
Below is the best link for doing uprez sessions and batches of sequences.
I have never had a problem when using these instructions.
Look them over. Maybe you forgot one of the steps.

I know this may sound incorrect, but since there really is no dropped frames happening
and no time code breaks (assuming you are sure there are none) then just go to the
user prefs and turn off abort capture on dropped frames and on time code break,
warn after capture. I’ve done this when capturing from our DVCPRO deck and
I have zero editing issues or recapturing issues since doing this, since FCP 5.0.
There is some kind of problem with FCP and Panasonic decks it seems.
I have not seen this problem with our Sony decks, digibeta and betasp.

November 17, 2005 at 10:59 pm in reply to: 10.4.3/FCP 5.0.3 Update working?

    Smooth sailing for me too.
Did all the recent updates last week.
I waited because I was in the middle of a project.
    I went from FC P5.0.2, OS 10.4.2, quicktime 7.0.1
to all the newest versions and the pro application supports.
Plus did an update for my Pipe Studio, both driver and firmware.
All projects, including my resent multicam stuff, all just fine.

    About Media Manager….
no, it does not do speed changes or reverses. So, do your offline with them,
then make a note to go put those shots back to normal before the uprez,
then go back and add back the speed changes. For me this is about
five or six shots per half hour show. For some people who use alot of
speed changes etc., of course it would be more trouble. Still frames
are a yes and no situation. Most of the time they come through
but sometimes they don’t. Of all the things I’d like to see fixed with FCP,
MM is at the top of my list. However I still have relatively painless uprez
because I know the limitations and work within them.

As for multicam shots and MM, no problem. There is a check box
you will see in the MM process that asks you if you want all the
angles of a multiclip or just what you used. I only uprez the shot I used, otherwise
you are talking a much larger uprez. This is the point of the offline.
That’s where you make those decisions. This is the same thing AVID does.

Finally, use this link as instructions for your uprez
    and you will be fine.

Why do your multicam at full rez?
I do my 5 camera SD projects at DV level first.
I have no issues with playback speed.
When the offline is done, you uprez.
I’ve produced 3 half hours with FCP’s multicam
feature this way. These were projects with
over 30 hours of footage, 4 hours of which were a
    5 camera studio shoot.

I’ve edited multicam for many years with AVID.
Apple’s implimentation of this feature in FCP
Is not perfect but it’s very good and will get better.
Even with AVID, you would not do a multicam workflow
    like you are suggesting.

November 15, 2005 at 9:55 pm in reply to: Anyway to delay audio monitoring in FCP5?

Go to system settings, playback control.
Enter a frame offset until you like it.

With my Aurora Pipe Studio there is no delay so I
always set that to 0, everytime I update FCP.

November 11, 2005 at 7:30 pm in reply to: how compressed is DVCPRO HD?

    Paul,

Not to be too negative, but 8 minutes of HD record time with the
Panasonic HVX 200 ? Do I have that correct?
If so, that is not a serious field shooting camera for HD.
Even if changing the cards every 8 minutes wasn’t bad enough,
the cost of media for an hour shoot would be hugh.
    I see they have a $10k version with 16 minutes. Still….

I don’t like HDV either, but there may be a nicer solution soon.
Sony is coming out with an HD version of their XDCAM, which
uses blue ray DVDs and give you 45 minutes I believe,
at highest quality. You can ramp it down for more storage.
    It’s a $20k camera yes, but a Varicam is what, $60k?

November 11, 2005 at 7:12 pm in reply to: puzzled with mpg2 results

How are you viewing the results of your mpeg2 conversion?
It needs to be your NTSC monitor, not the computer monitor.

If you have stuff moving around alot, why would you not use “best”
    as the setting for motion?

Also, I have gotten much better results going to Compressor,
one pass, changing the GOP to 7 and use IBP frames. Read the section
in the DVD Studio Pro manual about compression settings to learn more.

November 10, 2005 at 8:17 pm in reply to: mini-dv patched through Beta deck capture

Just remember, you will not have any timecode correlation between
the mini DV tape and the timecode FCP generates when you do a
“non controllable device” capture. This may not matter to you
unless you will need to recapture the material in the future.

Also, why not just hook up a firewire cable to your Mac
and the mini DV camera or deck?
Then you get timecode and possibly a better picture.
You get no improvement by capturing component, a DV signal
    through an 1800.
