Anyway to delay audio monitoring in FCP5?
Is there any way to delay the audio monitoring within FCP 5? I use a decklink HD Pro Dual link card to monitor my video and soundsticks for the audio. I am cutting standard def NTSC. The delay in picture is less than great and I was hoping to avoid purchasing new audio monitors.

Go to system settings, playback control.
Enter a frame offset until you like it.With my Aurora Pipe Studio there is no delay so I
always set that to 0, everytime I update FCP.Dan

You should monitor from the decklink audio outputs to match your video.
You can just get some audio adapter cables and use an A-B switch ($20 or so) and switch the Soundsticks between the Mac and the Decklink when you need to.

Soundsticks are the worst possible speakers to monitor from. No flat response and you have to plug into the Mac’s USB ports. What you REALLY want are decent speakers to connect to your Kona NOT the mac.
Had another user experiencing pops and cracks through soundsticks that were NOT on the original source. Turns out that audio is downsampled to play through them, causing these anomalies.
Proper system setup dictates that you should NOT monitor from the Mac at all. DV users should monitor from the DV Deck or camcorder. Video Card? Monitor from the Card, NOT the Mac.

Yeah, but the soundsticks are weird in that they REQUIRE you to hook up via USB. Weird…

I missed your seminar in Seattle but caught you at the SeaFCPUG about a month ago…
On a related note… how do you suggest monitoring the audio from an HDV timeline if I do not yet have any kind of a gfx card (ie Kona et al)…. ? Is there any way to do this other than the optical or 1/8″ outputs on the Mac. Of course, if it were plain old DV I would go through a DV deck…but HDV doesnt work that way except on Print to tape.. I plan to do a lot of off-line HDV editing for awhile until I can afford to buy a Kona2 (which is what we use here at work) and will use the Mac outputs unless there is a better solution.
Any speaker recommendations? dvcreators touts the Edirol speakers as being good enough studio monitors, others have recommended a slightly more expensive set of Behringer B2031As
If I go out of the Mac it will downconvert to 44.1 right?
