If you still have the original footage, that’s the best quality you can archive. Also save a copy of the rendered video as well.

Wow, I did not know that. I will not use that method to archive projects. I edit .m2t and .mts files and want to keep those files.

The “Copy media with project” should copy the original files used in the project without converting them.

I don’t have Streamclip in front of me now but I’m sure there’s a lossless format to render to that’ll work in vegas.

If you all have different login passwords, just move or save the project with media to your desktop or your documents. Other users don’t have access to those folders. Or just save with media to an external drive and keep the drive.

    Turn off ripple edit.

Your link to the .png file doesn’t work. Also smart rendering only works when rendering to the exact same format. Are you rendering to same Cineform resolution and aspect ratio as your AVCHD files? Are your project settings matching what your rendering?

You could use the keyer again in the effects chain to key out the darker shadow.

You should be placing them on the timeline on two tracks, one obove the other. With you positioning one on each side, both should be visable. FYI, the upper track will cover the lower tracks where they overlap.

This is called using proxies to edit with. DV widescreen is very easy on your CPU and will edit like butter.
If your computer wont edit your .mts files, you will need to convert them all to something Vegas can use on your PC, being Cineform or DV.
Render each to the same name, in the same folder and the extention will be avi. If you’ve already started a .veg with the .mts, you can replace the file by clicking on it in your project media tab and select replace, then point to the new .avi file with the same name. Edit with these avi files, then use the same method to replace them with the original .mts files and render. Best done just before you go to sleep. LOL
There is a program called Gearshift by Vasst. John Rofrano, also a Sony Vegas leader here at the Cow workes for them I believe. Feel free to jump in John, maybe tell her the benifits on using it versus my method.
