Yes it’s the same thing, different method. If you understand both methods, what are you having problems with?

I don’t even use the trimmer. I just drag the video onto the timeline, and drag the edges to make it exactly how I want it. You can drag the same video onto the timeline again and drag the edges to use a different region of that video, then drag the whole event up next to the first. Also any event you split in the trimmer can still be adjusted on the timeline, even larger that where you split it. This is nondestructive editing. You never really cut a video, unless you render a section to a smaller clip. Even then the original is still intact. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Use the event pan and crop, deselect maintain aspect ratio, and crop out the person you dont want, then use track motion to position it to the side you want. Do the same with the second event but position it to the other side. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Click on the event where the flat line starts and hit the s (split) key. Then do the same at the end of the flat line, then click somewhere in the flat line area and hit delete. Then drag the two remaing events together.

I have two i7 computers that can edit my 1080 60p .mts files from my tm700 fine. But you can also render each clip as DV widescreen, edit those, then replace them with the original .mts files just before rendering.

I also have a Presonus 8 channel Firepod. Presonus now has a driver for Windows 7 where I had to use the old 1394-Legacy drivers with it until now. I can set the latency low enough, I can record with effects and hear VERY litle latency. I also have two Presonus Inspires and they will do the same thing. I found the Inspires on Ebay for under 120 dollares each.

Sony’s Audio workstation is Acid, but you don’t really need it as Vegas does very well with audio.

As John says, A tripod is the way to go, but when you can’t use one, zoom out some so the stablizer effect has some extra space to crop.

Hmm, We have a venue here at Universal Orlando that uses a DVS video server that plays 1080 60p DPX frame sequences with 444 color space.
There has to be something to make these files. I have an Intensity Shuttle that captures via HDMI as DPX files but I don’t know what the color space is. What do you play these DPX files back with?
