Try holding down ctrl + shift while launching Vegas. This resets all the settings to default settings.

Yes, I used a white solid, rotated flat, set to multiply, set the subject track to cast shadows and the white solid track to accept shadows. I used the pin light I think it was called to get an even and sharp shadow. I also used a camera view like the tutorial.I had to pull up the tutorial, watch and pause at each step, set my settings and continue to next step in order to get it to work. It took a while but it does work great. Make sure your light is not straight above the subject but off to the side so the shadow will be seen. You probably just missed a step. Danny Hays

Did you set the track that should cast the shadow to “Cast shadow”?

Sometimes a window gets hidden off the monitor, if it’s a secondary monitor, you can deselect “extend desktop to this monitor” temporarly
to get it back in the primary monitor, then re-enable the second monitor. If it’s off the edge of the primary monitor, you can temp change the resoultion to get it back in view. Hope this helps, Danny Hays -
In the media Generators tab, select text. Add a keyframe where ever you want a new letter to be typed. Hope this helps. Danny Hays

I don’t think Vegas will render to flash, but you can render to H.264 MP4 which is great for internet streaming. You Tube encodes to both where flash is the lower quality and MP4 is the high quality. Take a look at Keepvid. Find a high quality youtube video, paste it’s URL into Keepvid and see it gives you both types to download to your computer. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

When you add a video file with audio embedded, it does like you said. But you can select both audio and video events and hit the U key to ungroup them from each other. You can then drag either to any other track, audio to an audio track and video to a video track. hope this helps, Dany Hays

Why not capture component live from the camera without tape or firewire? You can bypass the HDV compression alltogether that way. Danny Hays

If you capture tapeless with an Intensity Pro, why dont you record component in as Pro rez 422 or uncompressed 4.2.2 color space and bypass the HDV compression completley? I’ve been researching getting an Intensity Pro for just that reason. Bypassing the tape and the firewire you can record straight from the camera sensor chip to your hard drive. Hope this helps. If you do a comparison between HDV and this method I would love to see the resluts as I cant find anyone doing it yet. Danny Hays
