John R. Do you know if Youtube still re-encodes everything sent in? Or does Sony Vegas have a preset just for youtube that doesn’t get changed? The last few videos I sent in had audio quality issues as previous ones did not. Thank, Danny Hays

I have a 2.8 Windows XP dual core desktop and a 3.4 dual core laptop, half XP, half Windows 7 ( Set for dual boot) and both work fine. I am using Pro 9 and dont have the Cineform codec to convert to, but either machine will work with HDV 1080i. Plus Vegas 7 still has the Cineform codec you can convert to which is way more CPU friendly that HDV or AVCHD. I also just built an i7 930 6 gig ram and it’s much faster than the others. I would guess most any dual core would work with HDV as long as you have the patience for preview refresh rate and long render times. I would start the renders and go to bed. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Youtube usally has two versions of each video. A .flv (flash) amd .mp4 (High quality) Your Iphone unles your on a 4g or wifi network is going to play the .flv version by defalut. This lower quality video lets the iphone buffer stay full enough it doesn’t stall. If you pause the .mp4 version while viewing it on your computer untill the red buffer line at the bottom reaches the end, then play it, it should play back smooth.
Let us know,. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

You should be able to open the markers window and delete it from there.

What are you changing it to, I haven’t seen a sound card that didn’t support 48k and 44.1k. Try taking one of the rendered videos that has no audio and drop it on the timeline and see if there’s a waveform. Are you changing it to a sample rate your sound card doesn’t support? Give us more details on what your changing the audio render settings to. Danny Hays

September 22, 2010 at 9:52 pm in reply to: 8.0c Memory Leaks?

I made a 1920 x 1080 60p .wmv with Vegas pro 8 at work and it worked fine. The original files were almost 20,000 6 meg targa files for a 6 minute 1920 x 1080 30p mpeg video as Vegas wouldn’t make a 1080p60.mpg. It would lockup at 34% everytime, so I rendered it in halfs as 1920 x 1080 60p uncompressed avi. Then put those in a new project 1920 x 1080 double ntsc 59.94 settings and rendered that as 1920 x 1080 60p .wmv and it plays fine on an i7 Windows 7 32 bit machine. Thats the only format I found Vegas will render to at 1920 x 1080 60p and the computer play back without stuttering. At home I downloaded a sample .mts file 1080p60 and rendered it to 1080p60 .wmv and it looked great. I had to add a brightness and contrast effect to get my blacks back, but it plays and looks fantastic.

Your saying sometimes they open and sometimes the same ones don’t? I would uninstall and re-install Vegas then. Danny Hays

September 22, 2010 at 1:44 am in reply to: Intensity shuttle / Decklink data flow

The Shuttle is a capture and playback device, with some upconverters and downconverters. It is not, nor is the Media Express software that comes with it an Editor with the Shuttle. Sony Vegas would do what your asking. Media Express will playback different formats back to back if that’s what your asking. Hope this helps, Danny Hays
