It looks like the rendered file is a lower resolution than the left one. Drop the videos into GSpot and see what they are. If there the same res, I would try increasing the bitrate for the mpeg and see if it helps. Danny Hays

I gather you can still open other .wmv files you made before but not this one right? Sounds like it’s corrupted for some reason. If you don’t still have the original footage and only the file that won’t open, I would try a free program called streamclip. I have been able to recover bad files with it before by converting it to DV avi or an editable format. It’s worth a shot. Here’s a link to a free download.

If your running Windows 7 or Vista, Right click and run as administrator. It runs right out of the folder and doesn’t get installed, like a portable. Hope this helps, Danny Hays -
Yes, I’m running Vegas Pro 9 on Windows 7 64 bit. 32 will only see 2 gig of ram I believe, where 64 will see up to 8,, I think.

vlc is a standard player for video editors when media player won;t play the video. defently get it.

I would do a System restore to before you installed the “tools”. Sounds like Vegas is now trying to render to a different codec than before. Beware installing multi codec packs for just this reason. Better to research and find the right “one”.

Same sound? That’s a broad question. If you mean the same volume, right click on each audio clip and normalize each to the same level. This will get you alot closer. You can also right click in the track header of the audio track and add a volume envelope, where you can add points to the volume line and adjust spicific areas.

In your Options, Preferences, make sure “Eable no-recompress long-GOP rendering” is checked and see if that makes a difference. Any effects or changing the source file will make you render every frame. But if your just piecing parts from and to the same format mpeg, this should do the trick. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Yes. Vegas is a CPU based program, until pro 10 comes out. You can set your preview window to preview, auto to get a faster frame rates for priview. For full quality preview areas, you can set the loop area for it and under tools. is a preview in player option to see that part rendered. Keyframing track motion like in your sample, requires every pixel to be created in each frame, thus it will give you less FPS in your preview window. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

I’ll have to try that. Finding a real or close to, black object to set to could make things easier, in a pinch when there’s not a real white surface to use. Have you tried this?

Without a storage server where someone can download from,yes. 10 meg is typicly the file size limit for most email servers. Yahoo instant messenger installed on both machines will allow you to drop a large file on the connection window, and with the reciever’s permission, you can also do this. Peer to peer, like this needs someone on the other end to except the file. Hope this halps, Danny Hays, Universal Orlando.
