Video output is low quality in sony vegas 10
I have been using sony vegas 10 for a while now and have had no problems. All of the sudden, every video I produce takes tripple the time to render and the output is very poor. it comes out grainy and pixely.
I have changed nothing in the software. I use the same settings all the time.
I am using a flip mino hd for my videos and the quality is always great.
The only thing i can think of is I recently was looking for a solutioon to convert mp4 into flv and downloaded a couple of free tools that I wanted to try.
Other than that, my system is the same as always. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software as well as updating my video card drivers.

I would do a System restore to before you installed the “tools”. Sounds like Vegas is now trying to render to a different codec than before. Beware installing multi codec packs for just this reason. Better to research and find the right “one”.

I tried the system restore and it didn’t do any good. I went back as far as I could but same result with the output.
Is there a way to replace or update the codecs? why wouldn’t doing a reinstal of vegas fix it?

If “as far as you could” wasn’t before you installed those tools then it would have no affect.

You can, and should, try reinstalling. You should also try uninstalling those other tools first. Sometimes an installer will see that a codec is installed and not try and replace it. Some will just blindly overwrite anything you have. As Danny said, it sounds like you may have replaced some of your high quality codecs with cheap free one.

I’ve done everything I can think of.
I restored to a the farthest point back allowed by my system and it did not work. I am pretty sure it was before I installed the free tools but not 100% sure.
I uninstalled all the free tools I think may have affected it.
I uninstalled sony vegas twice and reinstalled twice.
non of this worked.
I do not know how to find/delete or install codecs. can someone help with directions? and is there anything else aside from reformating my entire computer and putting it back to the way it was when i got it?

Are you using win 7 x64? Do you have enough memory? Have you checked what processes are running under ‘normal’ conditions? Anything that looks ‘odd’ try ‘stopping’ and seeing if the system keels over or not. Maybe you have a virus/background process that is hogging cpu time.
If nothing seems out of the ordinary, I think it sounds like a rebuild might now be necessary. If you do not have Win 7 64x get it and give yourself 8Gb+.
If you *only* install Windows updates and then the latest version of Vegas (you *really* using 10???) then see if the problem continues.
