Odd rendering glitch?

I’m attempting to render a project for youtube – I’m fairly new at Sony Vegas.
Rendering to avi, using Sony YUV codec, 720p 29.97 fps

For YouTube you should be using the Sony AVC render type with the Internet 16:9 HD 30p template.

Now I have video, but the rendered file starts in the middle of my project, goes to the end, then has a few minutes of blackness and no sound to make up the correct amount of time. I’m utterly confused by this.

It sounds like you make have made a timeline loop selection starting at the middle of you project and when you are rendering you have the Render loop region only option checked. Just uncheck it.

Unchecking the Render loop region only box fixed my problem. Thank you very much 🙂

Also, thanks for the codec suggestion, I used that one instead.

I’m glad that fixed it. I think you’ll find the Sony AVC codec a good choice for YouTube. It’s what I and a lot of other people have been using with excellent results. Take care,

John R. Do you know if Youtube still re-encodes everything sent in? Or does Sony Vegas have a preset just for youtube that doesn’t get changed? The last few videos I sent in had audio quality issues as previous ones did not. Thank, Danny Hays

I think everything always gets re-encoded when it gets uploaded to YouTube. I’ve been using AAC audio at 48K sample rate, 128K bit rate and it’s been sounding fine. I also record at 48K/16.
