I have the Shuttle from Blackmagic but I dont use it for playback as my second DVI out works fine. Smooth HDV and AVCHD. I’ll check it with some effects and see if it help with preview, I don;t believe it will though.

You have a Gtx, NVidea card I gather. That card supports GPU processing with Pro 10. I think it doesn’t help with preview, only rendering. But with a cheap i7 quadcore I get smooth preview with 1080 60p AVCHD .mts files. What speed is your computer?

To record from the phone (Cell only) you could modify a set of earbuds by putting a connector in place of one of the ear pieces that will connect to your sound card input line in if you have it, and the other ear piece to listen with. You would need to turn the phone audio as low as you can and still hear it, since it’s at an amplified level, hotter than a line level and way hotter than mic level. If you have a audio mixer to gain stage the signal, that would be the best way.
As far as capturing video from your screen, you can use a free utility called Freecorder. It allows you to capture “Downloadable” audio and video from your computer screen. the captured video is in the .flv format. See this link.

I gather your talking about the .VOB files found on DVDs. You could copy one to your hard drive and rename it in Windows Explore, then add them to the Vegas timeline. I usually rename them to a small name so I know what it is and also change the ext from .vob to .mpg.

I believe one frame is as small as you can get at 29.97, no half frame. But you could set your project settings to 59.94(double ntsc)and add it as one frame at that frame rate. You would have to render at 59.94 in order for the text to only show up that small.

I did a search for Tape Stop and found a post by Vegas Pro forum leader, John Rofrano from last year. Here’s a link for a VST tape stop pluggin.

It works well but seems to only works live, Don’t see a way to keyframe it. The only way I could figure get the effect recorderd was to use a virtual cable. It allows you to set the output of a program to it and use another program, set to record from it. Here’s a link for a free one.

It basicly shows up as a sound card. I was able to set Vegas default audio device out to it and set default in to it as well and record from one track to another in the same Vegas program, but I could not hear it while I pressed the tape stop start button, but it recorderd it. I then set the audio device in and out back to my sound card and could then play it fine, move the event to where I want it. You could probably open two instances of Vegas, set the out of one to the Virtual audio cable and the in of the other instance to virtual audio cable leaving the default out of the second to your sound card.

I have the Shuttle and had problems with the newer drivers and software. If you don’t get audio from the cards audio output with Media Express, I would try some earlier versions of Balckmagic software and drivers. Danny Hays

The media stays where it was before, the Project media window, or Bin as you call it is just a list of files used in that project. The files are not moved from there original location, unless you save as, a select Copy media, then it copies to the new location, good for backing up projects.

Vegas is having a hard time recognizing the file type, is it a Fraps made video? Look at the Creative Cow Vegas forum post one or two after yours and watch the video where someone else has the exact same problem.
