Just saw another way, using free addon feature for Vegas Pro 8 and 9 called “Video Wall” just posted on the Vegas Basics page by Mike Kujbida. Thanks Mike.

Other than using track motion for each video track, shrink each and move so you can see each track, or use the Multi camera editing feature, I don’t think there is. Danny Hays

December 3, 2010 at 4:18 am in reply to: what is best method for keying green screen with two shades? There once a keyer from Nantucket,, I mean Ultra 2 from Serious Magic. Adobe bought it several years ago and released it with the high end CS3 bundles, then nothing with CS4 and now CS5 has it as a pluggin in Premiere. It doesn’t have all the same parameters but it still works well. I have been able to key what was considered to unkeyable footage with the original version. Even better than Kelight, and with HDV. If you want to send me a small enough clip in the native format that Yahoo mail can handle, 10m I think, I’ll test it for you with Ultra. Send me a background too if you want. danhays2004@yahoo.com Danny Hays, Universal Studios FL.

I found the source res and framerate must match the Media Express capture settings. have you tried 720p 59.94 in Media Express with comp. monitor set to 1280 x 720 60 Hz?

Now that IS strange. There some problems with some versions of quicktime I’ve read. Does it not see quicktime files from another source? Does Quicktime (*mov) show up as an available render type? My guess is there’s something with the mov files your trying to use.

Now those are some nice cameras! You should defenetly be using Vegas Pro 10 64 bit as it has the ability to work with your AVCHD .mts files very smoothly. You are correct John, Pro 8C does see and work with .mts fils, up to 1080 60p. I happened to still have 8C on an old dual core 2.8 desktop with Windows XP. But it’s so sluggish with an .mts file, with NO effects, even with preview set to preview auto I only get maybe 3 fps preview. But on my i7 930 6 gig ram Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, with the same file, without effects running Vegas Pro 10a, I get fantastic preview framerates ,even set to best full. It may not be the full 60p but it looks like at least 30. I don’t know haw to tell for sure. John, do you know how I can find out the true preview framerate is? Now if using certain effects like color correction where every pixel is effected the preview framrate drops pretty significantly, but you can always set the effect paramemers to your liking, then turn off the effect and continue editing, then turn it (them) back on before rendering. Ken, with that computer and 3 of thse cameras at 4 grand a piece, you really should be running Pro 10, only a few hundred bucks for an upgrade.

Make sure your project settings have the same resolution settings as your render settings. Been there, done that.

Both are correct. You can connect the camera via usb and see thecameras internal memory as a drive. You can navigate to the folder where the native .mts files are and copy them to your computer. Or you can use the HD writer to get the files off but it converts them to .m2ts. I don’t use the editing software from the CD that came with the camera as it’s very basic, especially since Vegas will work with these files. Vegas will edit either format and render to the 1080 60p in the formats I mentioned. Sony Vegas doesn’t have any project presets or render presets to work with the 1080 60p so you will have to customize them for the 60p. here’s a pic of how to set your project settings for this camera. Let me know if you need a pic or pics for a custom render setting. Danny Hays

I’m sure you can, with Quicktime installed on the PC and render to .mov in many resolutions.

November 26, 2010 at 5:05 pm in reply to: Rendering Canon 720/60 footage (with Epic plugin)I render 1080 60p mp4, wmv all the time with Vegas 9 and 10 and set the bitrate to 25m. What is the original format? mine is .mts or .m2ts. I’ll post some project setting and render setting pics when I get to work. Danny Hays
