    Hi there!

So, I’ve searching for this, and haven’t found any solution.

I want to capture my own PC (screencast) with an HDMI cable. I’ve tried to capture the same PC that is with the capture card and with another computer, but I always get a black screen.

I’m using HDMI cables for IN and OUT of the capture card.

I’ve tried to change the resolution of the computer to 1280×720 pixels and using 60 hertz, but looks the same.

What can I do, is there anyone that can help me?

    Thanks a lot!

I found the source res and framerate must match the Media Express capture settings. have you tried 720p 59.94 in Media Express with comp. monitor set to 1280 x 720 60 Hz?

Yeah, I’ve tried every resolution with every configuration in Media Express and coudn’t get to work.

Isn’t it something like HDCP blocking the capture from PC?

If I try to use a cable adaptor DVI – Component, maybe I can get this to work, right?

There’s almost never HDCP on a PC’s DVI or HDMI output- usually only while playing a blu-ray disc or some sort of other protected content. If you’re just at the desktop or running normal applications, there won’t be HDCP.

Using component format instead of HDMI might cause it to work, but not because of HDCP.

    Hi,

Have you tried any other output resolutions from your PC? It’s possible that some resolution may have a little timing variation that could cause issues.

Yeah, I’ve tried other resolutions, but there is no response. Even with an DVI – HDMI adaptor.

I’ve used a S-VIDEO cable, but still the same black screen.

Could this be something wrong with Blackmagic Media Express? Is there any other software that I could use for screencasting with the Capture Board?

    And thanks! 🙂

    I found out the solution.

I just used Premiere Pro CS5 instead of Media Express. These are the steps I followed:

    1. Connected the HDMI to the PC output and the BMD board.
    2. Changed the resolution to 1280x720p and to the Clone View Mode.
    3. Opened Premiere Pro, configured to capture from BlackMagic as 720p 59.90.

    Thank you all.

    Hi,

Thanks for the update and i’m glad you’ve resolved the issue. However, this is really weird that it works in Adobe Premiere Pro and not Media Express. I’ll get the guys here to check it out.
