In an earlier thread on working with the Panasonic TMC700 you write:

Vegas Pro 10 handles the native .mts and the m2ts when using the supplied Panasonic HD Writer software with ease.

and then you go on to say in anoher thread,

Plus Vegas Pro 9 and 10, with custom project settings and render settings to allow for the 60p can edit and render to 1080 or 720 60p .wmv .MP4 and .mov.

You have me a little confused on how you come up with doing what neds to be done with the workflow for Vegas to work with the camera.

Could you go into a little more detail to alleviate some of the confusion. Thanks

Both are correct. You can connect the camera via usb and see thecameras internal memory as a drive. You can navigate to the folder where the native .mts files are and copy them to your computer. Or you can use the HD writer to get the files off but it converts them to .m2ts. I don’t use the editing software from the CD that came with the camera as it’s very basic, especially since Vegas will work with these files. Vegas will edit either format and render to the 1080 60p in the formats I mentioned. Sony Vegas doesn’t have any project presets or render presets to work with the 1080 60p so you will have to customize them for the 60p. here’s a pic of how to set your project settings for this camera. Let me know if you need a pic or pics for a custom render setting. Danny Hays

I have applied the cookie cutter to a talking head for a vignetting effect. I wanted to squeeze that back onto a full page graphic. As the video squeezes, the edges of the video clip show the underlaying full page graphic (The video track is above the full page graphic track).

So I tried to add generated media – elliptical transparent to black. Since I have effects and transitions already on the video track and graphic elements above and below the video track I don’t want affected, how can I add the elliptical media overlay and apply it just to the video track. Parent/child?
