  • Hi Sander,

Can you email me your Mac System Profile and Resolve Logs?

I’ll take a look and do my best to help.

You can find the Resolve Logs by following these steps :

    Navigate to the folder : /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/

    Double Click Capture Logs

This will save the logs to the desktop as a compressed .tgz file

Please email this file and the system profile .spx to davincihelp@blackmagic-design.com

    Thanks!

    Just to add,

If you look on the config page you’ll also see a setting is for Enable Video Field Processing this enables resolve to work in fields internally.

The Enable Video Field Rendering setting on the render page is to tell the compression codec whether the material is interlaced or not and set the metadata in the header of the clip. You will this option grey out for codecs which don’t support compression like DPX or tiff.

    Hope this helps!

    Hey Eric,

If your working with interlaced material you would want to turn this on.

It enables field processing on the footage which is especially important if you are doing any resizing or rotation of your image.

Resolve normally works frame based which is best for progressive material.

    I hope this helps!

August 22, 2011 at 8:49 pm in reply to: scene cut detection, conforming, a simple cut …..

    Hey Julien,

Are you using v8 of Resolve?

If so it’s easy to add cuts to your timelines.

On the conform page you can easily add cuts, move edit points, if you overlap clips it will add a transition for you and more Etc…

I haven’t found any issues using the scene detector or toolset but if you have any feedback please do send it to davincihelp@Blackmagic-design.com and I’ll check it out for you.

    Thanks!

August 17, 2011 at 10:46 am in reply to: Database + stills / powergrades

    Hey Stig,

Probably the easiest way is if you :

    Load your old Database.

Make a Project Called Awesome Grades (or which ever you’d prefer)

Grab all the stills and powergrades that you want

Hit save and then do an Export + of this project.

You should be able to then do an Import + into your new database.

Put all the grades back into the Powergrades and you should be done.

Let me know if that works for you!

    Thanks,

If you double click the Capture Logs button in this folder :

    Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/

This will save a file to your desktop and if you could send that to :

Just as a little extra tip you can always keep the full version installer on your Resolve Lite machine and if you need to use the full version just grab the dongle from your main machine and install the full version.

Best thing about using a dongle is being able to grab it and move it easily 🙂
