  • Exactly right Chris, we’ve being doing this on red projects for a long time.

If its not working for some of you make sure you select all your red clips before changing the red settings. If you change the setting, then select all and then hit the apply changes button it doesn’t work

December 9, 2013 at 10:00 am in reply to: Stills location when working with Davinci server

    Do you have shared Storage?

Our stills are located in a folder on our server called resolve_do_not_delete and then ./gallery which should be hidden on most peoples machines.

This allows me to open projects on any machine with all stills via the shared database. If they were saved locally this would show up as blank.

December 3, 2013 at 10:34 pm in reply to: Baselight vs Resolve.

I used to be a flame artist so give me a Resolve and the Sapphire plugins and I can do pretty advanced online and compositing work in Resolve. Give someone that has no compositing background a baselight and they’ll have hopeless results compositing.

I guess my point is both systems are very close these days so your question should be “who do I hire?”

Sorry if this is shameless self promotion but if you watch a preview video for mixing light you’ll see the level of work you can do in Resolve now.

I built that entire trailer in Resolve with some graphics elements rendered out of AE and did all the comping in Resolve. It may be cheesy as hell but I think it shows whats possible!

November 27, 2013 at 9:22 am in reply to: conforming multiple sequences from pre-conformed EDLS

    Its actually super easy now.

Add a Bin/Folder for each clip that you want to pre conform and place the flattened clip in the correct bin.

Now when you load EDLs in it will ask you which bin you would like to use. Pick the one you want.

Done and only takes about 5 seconds!

November 26, 2013 at 11:35 am in reply to: Client wants my .drp?

I’d never give out my project at all. If they want my work they need to come and grade with me… well unless your a friend / nice to me. Then I’ll share it.

My pet hate is when they want want to take a previous grade I’ve worked on and go use my grades on an updated edit somewhere else.

November 22, 2013 at 12:13 am in reply to: Davinci Tracker problems when resolution changed.

I think it may be a pixel aspect ratio thing as I’ve had the same issue when working with Anamorphic Alexa. I desqueeze for the grade on my HD monitor and then change the PAR back for render and the windows have moved.

I’ve not tested this on recent builds of Resolve only the beta version of it.

I miss it too. It was so useful for quickly splitting the difference. I dont mind the extra button push though now I’m used to it.

October 23, 2013 at 6:20 pm in reply to: Missing middle click in Galleries .. bug or feature ?

What build are you guys using? It still seems to be working for me but I’m on Linux so could be a Mac only bug?

I use that about a million times a week so hopefully it gets fixed!
