Hmmm… I think you might need to clarify what it is exactly you want to convert to 2D. The 3D layer could have any orientation in 3D space. What aspect of that translates to your desired 2D rotation?

I think you just need to a default case so the expression has something to do if the slider goes outside the 1-13 range. So you could just add this to the end of your expression so the color goes to black if the slider goes out of range:

Sure, something like this where you explicitly set the max width:

w = 500;
r = sourceRectAtTime(0,false);
s = r.width > w ? (w/r.width)*100 : 100;

or, you could set it as some percentage of the comp width:

w = thisComp.width*0.9;

That’s the JavaScript ternary conditional operator. It’s a compact alternative to if/else that I like because you can put it on a single line without having to add curly braces.
