Back in tape world we charged $20/tape for window burn.
In the digital world we have translated it to per/60min of footage.
If there is 85 min of footage from a card, it would be $40 for the window burn.

I have done this, with success. Not with a DSLR though, Was a Panasonic HPX-370.
Like Steve said, You need more color info collected with a green screen shoot.

If you have a 1080 sequence and put a 720 video in there, you’ll have plenty of room and black around the edges. Scale up the 720p some and have letterbox, you won’t detect the tiny, tiny quality hit from doing this.
We use 720p footage in 1080 edits a fare bit and no loss for wear.

FCP is EOL.
Adobe is (one of) the path forward.
Buy the most powerful computer you can.
Don’t look back.Keep in mind there will be a learning curve and slight changes in the way you work if you jump.
All this being said, You could continue to edit with FCP 7 until the computer dies…

Are you capturing to a separate internal drive from the OS?
1 Drive setups are not very fast. Raids are preferred for better performance. This may not be your issue, just saying.Chris Tompkins
