I have a problem with Premiere freezing during capture, consistently at 17 minutes, around 25 seconds.

I am capturing from a Blackmagic Decklink SDI card, 720p 59.94, ProRes 422 HQ. I’ve also tried LT.

I am running Premiere 6.0.2 on OS 10.6.8 on a Mac Pro. My 1TB disk is empty and still has 900GB available after 17min of capturing.

    Any ideas?

Are you capturing to a separate internal drive from the OS?
1 Drive setups are not very fast. Raids are preferred for better performance. This may not be your issue, just saying.

Run the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test program. It’ll tell you what you’re able to capture.

You have a single 1TB disc and you’re capturing ProRes to it? My guess is you’re dropping frames so the capture is aborted. It’ll capture / playback for a while, but at some point, a single media drive is going to drop frames. That’s why so many of use media arrays with 2 to 24 or more drives in a single RAID.
