If you export “Current Settings” FCP does NOT manipulate your image quality on export.
You can have the image control you want in FCP and save yourself a whole lotta work.Chris Tompkins

Just import the clip into the project. File-Import.

You r compressing twice Why?
Capture and edit in HD (prores if u can) Not HDV.
Export “Current Setting” making a ref file.
Drop that into compressor and make DVD – adjust data rate to maximize quality.Chris Tompkins

Make a ref file.
Drop that into compressor.
Modify settings.
Save new preset.
