Basic FCP will not do this.
There is a free plugin out there that will let you do this.

Do a search on how to trash prefs – u should know this.
Are ur hard drives filling Up?
Delete you unused render files and the such.
Quit FCP
Trash Prefs.
Relaunch.
Double click the clip first and then choose make freeze.Another way, Park your CTI on the frame and choose file export quicktime conversion. Choose still image.
Open that the exported still in PhotoShop first and size it for your DVD Menue buttons.

Ya, not all Desktops will play a full HD clip right off the desktop.
Put the clip on an ext. fast array and then play it with QT if you like.

The 170 shoots in the format DVCPRO HD it will only injest via log and transfer as DVCPRO HD not prores.
If you have to have the prores (you won’t gain anything) you’ll need to transcode all your qt’s after the fact.
You should have just stayed in the 1080 mode once u realized it.
I would convert which ever you have less of (1080?) to match the majority of your footage for edit.Chris Tompkins
