I don’t believe there is an AUTO way to do this. There is a glow filter in FCP you can apply to a line of text. You can create another layer and have a box on it that has a color to it. Animate the box over each line of text. Depending on the length of this book, you could be looking at a lot of work.

What I do is open the DVD in the Finder and drag the track(file) off the disc and onto the open ap – mpeg streamclip.
Choose repair time-code breaks or what ever it says. CMD F will force it. Try this and see if it makes a diff.

Use MPEG streamclip (free) to rip the DVD
Rip the file to dv50

What is ur sequence settings?

Don’t ingest media off the camera.
Get P2CMS software from Panasonic.
Ingest media first to hard drive. Back it up.
Then Log & Transfer.
A card reader would be even better.Chris Tompkins

Firewire (ext.) drive is fast enough for editing SD material and even some HD footage. You’ll be fine. In the FCP settings, choose the system drive for the auto backups of the Proj. files.

I do this all the time. While capturing footage via FW.
I’ll click on the desktop first then click on web browser or email or whatever and work away while loading in footage. Never had a prob with this for years.Chris Tompkins
