    Hey Spidex,

If I remember, that was from a post where they wanted to copy specific motion from a QT. I was showing how you can break up “groups” of motions into nulls parented to other nulls to make everything much simpler to keyframe.

I do cam shake in 3D (Maya and C4D) all the time using expressions, but have never done 3D Cam shake in AE, only 2D. I use motion sketch to record mouse positions or will track real footage to get data.

But I’m going to say that if you want to do 3D shake in AE, I’d look into noise expressions and apply them to a null. Then parent your cam to that null.

September 21, 2005 at 9:15 pm in reply to: Comping into Live Action

In regards to matching the original camera move or render passes and compositing?

If it’s a dead lock off, or a small bit of hand held long lens work you can match move it using a 2D tracker in a compositor. If you are going to see perspective changes, you need a 3D tracker like SynthEyes to get your C4D cam to match to the real Cam.

As far as compositing, C4D makes it very easy if you are going to AE, Shake, or Motion. Just read your manual on how to render out multiple passes and generate a project file for one of those apps.

Is it flickering on your Computer screen or just on output? If it’s just on output and you are using composite video to look at your image, high contrast areas will flicker. If this is the case at least use S-Video to monitor your output.

September 20, 2005 at 2:02 pm in reply to: Importing color

If you are importing your Illustrator curves directly into C4D, there will be no colors because C4D wouldn’t have a way to show or render them. Splines in C4D don’t render much less have a renderable color.

You can use your splines to drop into sweeps, lofts, and extrudes to create geometry that does render. Then on that geometry you can match the colors from your original ai file.

Turbulent Displace is a displacement effect where Noise Turbulent is a noise generator I believe.
