Actually the tracking in Boris Title 3D works pretty well, it just hides the keyframes within itself, which is kind of a pain, but it does work.

  • If your output is to DVD, DVDSP will stretch your movie to 16×9, you just need to select that format in the inspector when the track is selected.

Consider the cost of reshooting a job. Far more that the $3 difference you want to spend on Beta SP tape, which are around $8 a piece. I never, never re-use tape, which is the cheapest part of the workflow, buy and use new tape for everything. Or go tapeless, even better.

Note that the only important settings when you capture to ProRes are the capture preset and the device control. The fact that my screen grabs show a sequence preset in AJA uncompressed 8 bit or whatever is unrelated to doing this kind of capture.

Um, the so-called weird frame size is standard DV anamorphic, in an unstretched format. Another iteration of this which Compressor will export is 720×404 or something to that effect. Not weird at all.

Dave is right about the limitations of panning and zooming in FCP, but if you must, try a little gaussian or directional blur. Also, make sure your images are properly optimized in Photoshop, should be twice your frame size at 72 dpi.
