I’m creating a pan and zoom slideshow of family photos in FCP. The problem I’m having with some of the photos is flickering when there is someone wearing a striped shirt or someone’s smile (with there teeth) while the picture is zooming in or out. I tried the de-interlace filter and the flicker filter with no results. Does anyone have any ideas. Thank you.

What are you viewing it on, your computer monitor, or a real video monitor?

Be sure the filter is actually applied to the selected clip, depending on how you invoke it, it may not “take” the first time. There is also a difference between how these things look in interlaced vs. progressive. If you still don’t like it, you could go into photoshop to treat it.

Dave is right about the limitations of panning and zooming in FCP, but if you must, try a little gaussian or directional blur. Also, make sure your images are properly optimized in Photoshop, should be twice your frame size at 72 dpi.

    Have a wonderful day.
