FYI my Sony PVM CRT is dieing too, so I bought a 2030 Luma LCD a couple of months ago, it took a lot of tweaking but I got it to a point that I am really happy with and it works great. No client or station complaints. What’s really cool is that through my Kona card it looks great in SD and HD modes.

    Have a wonderful day.

Forgot to add that the Matrox MXO box will give your computer monitor more capability as a Ref monitor, but not having tried it, I just don’t know.

Well, the whole LCD question is still up in the air, but it still will cost upwards of $2000 to get a decent one, and then you have to tweak the hell out of it to get it close.

So no, it’s not as easy as going down to Best Buy and buying a Sony Bravia. You really need some kind of ref monitor to get your colors close, then you can use something like a Panasonic plasma for clients to look at, but it takes a lot of tweaking.

    Have a wonderful day.

No. If it’s going on a TV you need an NTSC monitor, completely different animal than a computer monitor.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Hey Tom,

Bob is probably right about the drives being full, but I have a two banger Firmtec at RAID 0 on my MBP and I get about 125mbs with it. But it does have about 400 gigs of reee space on it, so maybe that’s the problem.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Takashi,

Capture the HDV footage as native, or as ProRes, or downconvert it to DV if your camera will do that. Personally, I capture to ProRes and let FCP scale it down, but I set rendering to High quality YUV and set motion rendering to Best. HTH.

    Have a wonderful day.

I had to believe the Steely Dan comment would come into this thread, but I have asked this question before and it semes the letters are how you pronounce AJA. But, great album eh?

    Have a wonderful day.

First thing I would do is trash the prefs, fix permissions and restart.

    Have a wonderful day.
