We use ProRes for everything and make SD DVDs daily. It works great.

Well, I don’t think you can do FLVs in Compressor. But, you can deinterlace your shows in FCP or, with JES Deinterlacer, which is fantastic. Then you can go in Flash and make your FLVs.

Because the best way to evaluate color and images is on an NTSC monitor, working as though for broadcast is certainly advantageous. There are several ways to deinterlace later many of which work superbly. Compressor is one, Episode another. We do a ton of work for the Internet and all of it starts interlaced. We do work in 30f which is kind of a fake progressive, but we know what it will look like because we are editing and color correcting on a proper monitor.

You are far better off using Boris Title 3D than the BS FCP text generator. That’s the worst.

It has great controls over size, position etc. and some limited animation. Only thing I don’t recommend is Title 3D’s drop shadow, better to use FCP’s.

What kind of media is in your timeline? Assuming it’s HDV, set your compressor settings to ProRes and go into your render settings and set to render in high precision YUV and set motion quality to best. Then render and output a self-contained movie. Put that in Compressor and use the high quality settings. In the inspector turn on frame controls and set motion filtering to better and turn on some anti aliasing. This may take a while but it’s worth it.

Only thing I can think of is that your clip and your timeline are set differently, one being drop frame the other being non-drop.
