I’ve tried searching and haven’t found anything that relates to my problem. I’ve got a member here at our access center working on a project due today.

She has put captions on the video using the standard text generator in FCP 5.1.4. She created a master template and has been working off that for each line. Now some of them are displayed way out of title safe. All of the settings seem to be the same, but if I change scale from 100 to anything and back to 100 it resizes itself back. Also some of the text clips appear larger and with wider spacing, but again all of the settings of each clip appear the same.

Is there a simple something I’m missing?

    thank you,
    nick

You are far better off using Boris Title 3D than the BS FCP text generator. That’s the worst.

It has great controls over size, position etc. and some limited animation. Only thing I don’t recommend is Title 3D’s drop shadow, better to use FCP’s.

    Have a wonderful day.

Thanks, Chris, for the advice. unfortunately at this moment I don’t think that’s the fix.

Her project is fairly intensive and essentially done and this has only manifested itself since yesterday with it being due this afternoon. I’m trying to figure out if there’s a specific something that has been changed that I can fix for her semi-globally so can she can just print it off.

    Nick,

I do agree with Chris, that Boris Title 3D should always be used rather than the FCP titler. However, if the project is in fact almost completed then a fix is in order. I suspect that trashing preferences may fix the issue. Whenever strange behaviors suddenly crop up out of nowhere, that should be your first line of defense. Report back if that doesn’t fix the issues.
