  • We had the same problem. We had purchased a Decklink HD PRO card with the understanding that “Full DVCPRO HD support” meant that 720p24 would be included. Between this and the Multibridge’s multiple shipping delays we sold the BM card and bought a Kona2 and IO for conversions (the IO now works stand-alone like the multibridge).

I am using a K2 to edit with and the IO as a standalone convertor and analog monitoring out of the K2. We just got it last week and it works great!

You can download a manual from Panasonic.com for future reference. Pretty well everything they have ever made has a downloadable pdf manual.

  • To capture off speed material in use the 60fps capture and convert material that is ramped using the Frame Rate Converter plugin from apple/panasonic.

    Bob,

If I understand you correctly, the AJA IO is now going to be a direct competitor to the Decklink Multibridge? Both are now standalone convertors controlled by a software control panel. Your example of up and down converting analog SD material to and from HD is exactly the reason we had ordered a Multibridge months ago. As you know the Multibridge isn’t shipping as of yet because of more chip production problems. Have you heard when this software update for the IO may be released?

    Thanks!

  • So Luke…

Are the original Multibridges actually shipping to customers? I was told by BMD and my dealer only a week and a half ago they were again on “indefinite engineering hold” and not to expect it for many weeks, or even months. So what’s the deal – are you standing next to a FedEx guy whipping these things out or shall I expect to wait longer?

I was told by our reseller, and confirmed by BMD, that the Multibridge is again on “indefinite engineering hold”. The new chips that were replacing the bad design also do not work as of the end of last week. They will not supply a date as to when they may start shipping. It doesn’t sound promising.

  • Totally agree with Neil.

Get last years NAB stuff actually working – then we may look to see what they have for this year.

I am getting this sinking feeling that the highly regarded Multibridge that we are still waiting for is going to become “vaporware”. Nice box – great ideas, too bad it doesn’t work. I hope I’m wrong because we could really really use it now, but I wonder if it may not ever come out.

Also, a “pro” card without the ability to sync to house sync is unacceptable. Getting this fixed should be a priority over unveiling new inventions that aren’t ready for production, and may not be for another year.
