They did it last year with the Decklink HD Pro and the HD Link and Multi-bridge. What revolutionary products will blackmagic reveal this year??

My vote goes for decks!!! Do for decks what you did to capture boards!

Yes i know we will be getting rid of these tapes soon enough, but we’ll still have em around for a while!!

Hell why not do cameras? Have you guys seen the Drake cam? Why do these cameras seem so simple yet rival whats being offered out there? Im not an engineer and I know theres more to it then slapping a CMOS sensor to a board and attatching a lense and some hard drives, but thats basically what the Drake is. I bet Blackmagic engineers could build one.

    So heres my order….

One 2/3″ HD cam that can shoot 1920 X 1080 in 24p, 30p, 60p, and 60i. It records RAW UNCOMPRESSED frames to a hard drive or solid state media. It has interchangeable lenses. Add a few extras like XLR inputs and some handy timecode generators. Charge 5,000-10,000.

I know its short notice but ill be expecting this next week guys, so I suggest you get crackin!!

With a separate audio and video offset slider for capture and playback, that’ll be sooooo coooool!

    Cheers, Lars

You wish has been answered by Sony. Its called the XDCAM HD. Sony is announcing at NAB that they will have a high-def version of the XDCAM system in the very near future. Right now, we might get to see a prototype if we’re lucky. We just bought an SD version of the XDCAM and its great. Its disk based, so no more tapes to bother with. And the menu system is awesome. No more cueing up tapes to the end so when you record that you don’t record over what you just shot. No more tape slack in the field when you shoot out of a helicopter or in a race car. The advantages are enormous! Its awesome!

I was wondering when tape would start to die. I imagine the costs for a hard disk based media system would be less – you no longer need the delicate tape transports and ultra sensitive heads.

Ok but seriously guys, what do you think blackmagic has in the works? I know we only have a matter of days to find out but its just so much fun to guess.

I know they wont let us down, surely they will have some product that will atleast really piss off AJA!

They had a big year of releases and maybe they want to just ride that out a while longer but if I know Grant hell have something to knock our socks off!!

I’d be happy with 4 channel AES I/O w/o needing Multibridge and external key output from HDPro cards.

In my easy setups, I’d like “Blackmagic HDV” that would be cool!

Broad strokes are great, but the devil is in the details.

I’d like a DeckLink EX (my name) that had Axio-like RT FX, slo-mo, color correction, and multi-layer, etc.for Windows.
