If I understand you right…
Import the updated art into your project. Select the layer/pre-comp/comp (whichever) to want to update in the project timeline. Hold down option key and drag updated file from the project window to OVER the selected layer/pre-comp/comp (whichever) in the timeline and release. If it has same size, layers, anchor points it should update it in place.
Or not. Sorry if I misunderstood the issue.

WORKAROUND DISCOVERED:
Made new empty timeline and copied all to that and the problem is gone. Must’ve been a corrupted timeline. Weird.

Bill Griffin, a local cameraman, called me directly and suggested the same thing. The iLink was turned off but he also wisely suggested a system reset. THAT worked! Field monitor is pulling a great signal from the PMW 200 now. Thanks, Bill!

Not that slow on my mac workstation. And, of course, when you are mitigating noise in this manner a processor hit is inevitable. Good, Fast and Cheap: You only get to pick two. Its results are good visually and the price is reasonable. Speed is the inevitable casualty.

Illustrator 88 was the first mac program I ever learned. Using the rest of the suite without it would hobble me…
