Anyway, dub your footage down. It’s going to suffer the signal loss by going to Xpress Pro anyway. No time? Get a D/A converter.

Actually, an even simpler way –
1. use the measure tool to draw the line.
2. select: image/rotate/arbitrary and hit enter – done!______

Click on the little monitor next to the video track while holding (ctrl or alt – I don’t remember which). Did it turn green? good, now you’re looking at just that layer. Color correct away.

Warning – Xpress DV is no longer covered by Avid Tech Support. Only Pro with Mojo.
Last I herd, anyhoo.

Mixed emotions – we love Digital Juice because of their Jump Backs sets (great stuff). Yes, I was a little disappointed in VideoTraxx, but only because I had wished the shots were longer (some’r only 5 sec). Other than that, it was pretty diverse and interesting – the weather and NASA stuff rocks! (And yeah, that Juicer software does suck.) But you gotta remember, buying just one of the volumes is still cheaper than any videographer’s day rate.
Funny story – my Exec Producer once asked me if Digital Juice’s stock footage was seamlessly loopable, like their animated backgrounds.

Actually, yes – anything by Walter Murch. Google “Murch” and “transitions” to find some great articles and conversations. (There was a terrific explanation of transitions and their various uses in the recent A.C.E. Magazine, “Cinema Editor”… https://www.ace-filmeditors.org/newace/mag_Main.html)
Also, one of the best-written books in a while, “Behind The Seen: How Walter Murch Edited Cold Mountain” (https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0735714266/103-5853685-2343823?v=glance).
While Murch may not be everyone’s cuppa joe, he has some very well-polished, plain-English explanations.

I thought it sounded a bit… grassroots.
Thanks!

I’ll take this opportunity to say once again that I dearly miss the AVBV over the Meridian for it’s one cute, simple yet effective ability of being able to cmmd-c a layer from Photoshop and pasting it directly into the title tool – complete with clean, soft alpha.
That was nice.
Meridian is 1000x more stable, but dang, that was cool.

[Oliver Peters] “If you don’t need the extra that Symphony can offer – even in its present form – then MCA HD is far more cost effective. “
Our place has had some prob’s with our MCA-HD (crashes and a lot of corrupted projects), but we’re just chalking it up to the newness of the software. Version 2.0.2 in the Media Composer’s world would be… what about 1985 or ’86?
We tolerate it and move on. Is it smooth and slick yet? No, but it gets the job done.
